    My adventures with beaded vessels began in a class with the legendary Baltimore bead artist Joyce Scott. I was disappointed to discover that the class was geared towards beginners, so I spent my time picking through Ms. Scott's box of beaded odds and ends, and picking her brain anytime that she was not needed to instruct another student.

    Anxious to explore form and structure in beadwork in a way I had never done before, I tried to abandon my natural tendencies and be as freeform as possible. I'm not sure if I succeeded but where I landed was with work that is highly structured yet somehow whimsical in nature - a feature that I hope is apparent in my legged vessels.

    I hope to take this form further in the future and see my "creature vessels" sprout heads, horns, tails, and possibly even wings.
