Leather Orca Barrette
Description
One of my favorite things about the Pacific Northwest is our Orca whales. I don't get up to visit them as often as I'd like, but the San Juan islands are home to the Orcas of the Salish Sea - otherwise known as the J, K & L pods ;o)
These beautiful creatures are communal, placing a strong focus on family. Some of our resident whales are believed to be as old as 90 years - which make me suspect that they are very wise as well.
This leather barrette celebrates the spirit of our orcas. It is painted in black and white (the white is deliberately streaky - you can see the black through it) and it's been sealed with a protective topcoat. It measures about 4 & 1/2 " long, it's mounted on a vintage copper French clip and it's backed with black ultrasuede.
